Whether you plan to elope or to round up family and friends for a destination wedding, here are several fine B&Bs for your Michigan wedding — each listed with convenient, direct links to more information.
If you live in Michigan and want to take your nuptials on the road, why go anywhere else but Michigan? If you live elsewhere, three major interstate highways and more than a dozen airports serve the Upper and Lower Peninsulas.
Advantages of holding your Michigan wedding at a bed and breakfast, such as the Huron House (above photo), which specializes in elopements:
- Personalized service from the moment you get in touch. At most B&Bs, you’ll deal directly with the owner.
- Innkeepers intimately know the spaces and logistical details of their facilities and the area. They know you want the wedding your way and will readily be able to answer questions and help you realize your vision.
- For services such as food and beverage, B&Bs offer more flexibility than the take-ours-or-go-elsewhere policies at hotels. Most innkeepers have a list of local suppliers whose quality of service is proven.
- When a wedding party books all the rooms, you’ll have exclusive access to the grounds and common areas, allowing for morning yoga or late-night ruminations in front of the fire. (Inquire in advance about the degree of access for wedding guests not staying on the property. For everyone’s safety and security, policies are probably in place.)
Here, in alphabetical order, are the best B&Bs for a Michigan wedding, with links to more info on their websites.

Huron House, Oscoda
Long known as a romantic destination, this B&B on Lake Huron lacks event space and the owners didn’t want loud wedding parties intruding on the peace and privacy of other guests anyway. But Huron House has found a niche in elopements and “micro” weddings. It offers elegant elopement packages for just the two of you or for the bridal couple and four friends or family members. Or, between October and May, you can rent the entire inn for two nights for up to 28 people, including the bridal couple, and hold an intimate and memorable wedding. Read more.
Kingsley House Bed and Breakfast Inn, Fennville
The two of you are cordially invited to elope at Kingsley House in the heart of Southwest Michigan’s wine country. Say your vows on the porch or anywhere on the grounds. The inn’s elopement package includes the services of an officiant, two witnesses, and lady-in-waiting assistance for the bride. The two of you will get flowers, a small cake, and locally made sparkling wine for a toast. A photographer will commemorate your Michigan wedding.
The Morris Estate, Niles
Of all the places for your Michigan wedding listed here, none has a larger, more experienced event planning staff. Weddings are what The Morris Estate is known for. “Our wedding was absolutely all that we wanted it to be and more,” wrote one bride. The 500-acre property has a chapel and a large permanent tent steps away that can accommodate 250 people. For a smaller wedding of up to 30, after your nuptials in the chapel, hold your reception in The Supper Club. Read more about their packages for the ceremony and the reception. Love the photos.
Nordic Pineapple Bed and Breakfast, St. Johns
This mid-Michigan B&B 30 minutes north of Lansing and East Lansing would be a beautiful place for an elopement or a wedding for between two and 250 people. Ceremonies and sit-down meals for up to 24 people can be accommodated indoors. Innkeepers Kjersten and Greg grant you the flexibility to provide your own decorations and food and beverage service. Lodging for two-nights in the five B&B rooms is included with each package. Read more.
Presque Isle Lodge, Presque Isle
In Northeast Michigan, sandwiched between Grand Lake and Lake Huron, the Presque Isle Lodge is very popular for reunions and weddings in season. A hundred guests can be seated in the dining room side of the lodge and more on the lobby side. The innkeepers are flexible with respect to food service. If you don’t want a catered, sit-down meal, they’ll discuss other options, such as appetizers only, candy and dessert bar, backyard BBQ, potluck, mini food stations, and even food trucks.
