Villa on Verona is a unique destination located less than a mile from Marshall’s historic downtown.
We are conveniently nestled very close to the exchanges of I-94 running between Chicago and Detroit and I-69, which extends from Port Huron, Michigan, into Indiana. It’s a great location for those traveling across the state, or a charming place to meet in the middle.
You’ll feel wrapped in a warm and inviting energy the moment you drive up to the Villa, an 1860, Italianate-style mansion atop eight acres of beautiful grounds. The uniqueness of this destination is the diversity it has to offer our guests.
Villa on Verona accommodates up to 13 guests in six rooms: 2 King, 3 Queens, and 1 Double w/pull-out twin. Old and new furnishings combine to create a warm and cozy environment.
Each spacious room has 12-foot ceilings, private bath, luxury linens and bath essentials, smart TVs, and complimentary WiFi throughout the house and grounds. From the porches to the gazebo to the music room and what we call Club Americano, guests enjoy many common spaces inside and out. Seasonal amenities include a resort-style pool, tennis/pickleball courts, and several yard games. Add our popular yoga package to your stay.
Villa on Verona is a great place If you are looking for a romantic getaway or stay-cation, girlfriends getaway, private dinner parties for two to 20, baby and bridal showers, anniversary parties, family reunions, graduation parties, wedding ceremony and reception, house-warming event, book launch, wine/beer tasting events and more. If I didn’t list the type of event you’re thinking of, just ask.
I hope you love food as much as I do! Food is one of my passions and the happiness it brings people. Breakfast is very flexible in terms of time and menu depending on your schedule, personal restrictions/allergies and personal taste. I use as many local ingredients as possible and make almost everything homemade. A few guests favorites include my homemade granola, cinnamon French toast with fresh whipped cream, spinach and artichoke quiche, and vegan potato & veggie skillet with tomato and avocado.
The Villa has individual tables in the dining room and, weather permitting, you can enjoy eating breakfast on the front porch.
Unique Experiences at Villa on Verona
Marshall’s several unique museums will awaken your senses, pique your curiosity, and bring out your inner historian. Each of the museums are filled with stories, and those stories come alive when you visit. A few we love are the Honolulu House, Walters Gasoline Museum, American Museum of Magic, United States Postal Service Museum, Governor’s Mansion and Marshall Historical Museum/GAR Hall.
In Marshall, there’s always something to do. Annual events include: Ice/Wine & Blues (February); Spring Run Events, Vintage Market (April); Music at The Fountain; Blues Festival (June); Cruise the Fountain & Garden Tour (July); Mandolin Summit (August); Calhoun County Fair (August); Home Tour (September); Skeleton Fest (October); Candlelight Walk of Historic Homes (December), and much more. Choose Marshall for your next Michigan getaway. Cool place.
What if it’s cool or rainy when you visit? The Marshall area offers other indoor activities besides the museums mentioned above. Just a short six-mile drive up the road, adults 21 and over enjoy Firekeeper’s Casino. Or try Turkeyville Dinner Theatre, Bogar Movie Theatre, The Franke Theatre or Marshall Lanes.
The epicenter of dining and imbibing in Marshall is Schuler’s Restaurant & Pub, family-owned for more than a century. But newer contenders focused on craft beer include Dark Horse Brewery and Commons and Grand River Brewery. A short 12 miles east is Albion Malleable Brewing Company. Copper Athletic Club is a good place to enjoy craft beer and spirits in a sports bar atmosphere. For craft beer with great pizza, try Cascarelli’s of Homer, 13 miles south.
Wine lovers will enjoy Rose’s Winery & Tasting Room.
The Kalamazoo River, an amazing natural resource, runs right through the heart of Marshall. It’s gorgeous for a walk or to take a kayak or tube trip. Ask us about the best places to put in and get out.
Skilled mountain bikers should consider The Dump, a Black Diamond-rated, one-way trail described as “gnarly and technical.”
Trailheads for several more easy-going non motorized trails are found within 30 minutes of us.
Beyond the grounds of the Villa there are plenty of things to experience, such as Binder Park Zoo, several golf courses, historical walking tours and so much more.
