a new twist on Bed and Breakfast lodging. Visitors seeking a B&B Experience with a yoga twist will find Rōming Roost a refreshing and peaceful retreat. The Rōming Roost B&B is an ideal combination of cozy, restful, private, and serene, with a magical location surrounded by cherry trees.  Each of their two beautifully crafted guest rooms were designed for your comfort with plenty of space for families or friends traveling together. Guest rooms include:

The Roost is a beautifully crafted loft space with private entrance and private bathroom.  This space provides one queen bed and two twin trundles. Sleeps 6

A cozy, nature inspired living space with private entrance and private bathroom.  Birds Nest offers one queen bed plus a bunkhouse nook with two bunk beds (separate with a sliding barn door).  Sleeps 4.

The rooms were purposefully built for the comfort of families or friends traveling together.

Healthy Breakfast- Everything at the Rōming Roost is about your health. Fresh air, quiet surrounding and a healthy self-serve breakfast to start your day that includes fresh fruit, home baked goods that often includes scones or their specialty of sourdough bread, hard boiled eggs from their own feathered gals, yummy hot sauce from Grand Traverse Sauce Co and fresh ground coffee from Mundos Coffee. They take pride in filling bellies with healthy, local or farm fresh goods.

Comfortable Sleeping- A hybrid B&B for the outdoor enthusiast; guests enjoy clean and comfortable accommodations, nature inspired, crafted with love and sprinkled with a yogic twist.

Yoga Healing  & Clarity- Kristen’s journey from a career in teaching and tennis coaching to a life rooted in simplicity and sustainability led her to yoga. After facing health challenges with their children, both Shaun and Kristen discovered the healing power of yoga. Now, they share this gift with the Rōming Roost community. Yoga and Reiki sessions are available with advance reservations and Saturday morning yoga flows are included in your stay.

Rōming Roost Apothecary- During your stay at the Rōming Roost be sure to check out the families Apothecary Store. During the winter months, the family spends time together making handmade soaps, vinegar, and the latest creation- their very own Kombucha. A guest favorite includes their signature tea that is made from dried herbs from their garden including- Lavender, Camomile and Lemon Balm.

Imagine waking up to soft breezes and smells of fresh brewed coffee.  Step out each morning to soothing views of two cherry farms that are nestled on both sides of this hybrid B&B. Later take a hike and check out the quaint local town of Suttons Bay. When you return to the Rōming Roost, find a secluded spot  and watch the sun dip below the horizon. The colors – gold, pink, lavender – mirror the love that surrounds you. Kristen & Shaun’s labor of love has created this sacred space, intentionally crafted for mindful connection. And as the stars emerge, you’ll know that here, at Rōming Roost, you’ve found something rare and beautiful.

Family Fun

The Rōming Roost is a wholesome escape for your family. The Birds Nest, a private, nature-inspired living space includes one queen bed and a separate bunkhouse room, complete with two bunk beds. Let your little ones explore the 15-acre homestead. They can collect eggs from the chicken coop, pick fresh veggies from the garden, and learn about sustainable living. Take a stroll around the groomed hiking loop – a family-friendly trail where curious minds can discover native birds and wildflowers.  Kristen, the heart behind Rōming Roost offers family yoga sessions. Gather as a family on the grass, stretch toward the sky, and feel the earth beneath your feet.  As the sun sets, gather around the bonfire under a star-studded sky. Roast marshmallows, share stories, and create memories.

Suttons Bay and the surrounding Leelanau County in Michigan are blessed with natural wonders that will leave you in awe. Here are some remarkable places to explore:

  • Sleeping Bear National Sand Dunes- Miles of sand beach, bluffs that tower above Lake Michigan, lush forests, clear inland lakes, unique flora and fauna make up the natural world of Sleeping Bear Dunes. For more information on this national treasure, check out this link.
  • Stites Natural Are:-This area boasts a northern hardwood forest that dazzles with exceptional fall colors. In spring, the forest floor comes alive with beautiful wildflowers like trillium and yellow and pink lady’s slippers
  • Belanger Creek Preserve-Near Suttons Bay, Belanger Creek is an ecological powerhouse. With 2,800 feet of stream corridor, it hosts an astounding 170 species, including 30 wildflowers. 
  • Pyramid Point-Just a short drive away, Pyramid Point offers breathtaking views overlooking Lake Michigan within the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The unique pyramid-shaped sand dune stands 162 feet high, providing a picturesque vista of the glimmering waters below3.
  • Lake Leelanau:- This enchanting inland lake lies in the northern part of the Lower Peninsula. Nestled within Leelanau County, it’s often referred to as the “Little Finger” due to its shape on the map. Explore its scenic woods, rolling farmland, and coastal vistas
  • Whaleback Natural Area- 10,000-year-old geologic wonder, Whaleback offers spectacular views from towering bluffs above Lake Michigan. Its varied terrain hosts unique plant communities and wildlife.
  • Beaches - This area includes many picturesque sandy beaches where you can soak up the sun and enjoy the crystal-clear waters. Some of our favorites include: Van's Beach, Hendryx Park & Beach, North Beach, Good Harbor Beach,  and Maple Bay Natural Area's that includes a quiet beach.

Biking. Paddle. Fishing. Golf- all nestled among the rolling hills and fresh waters of Leelanau County.  Bike or run the lightly trafficked county backroads and  backwoods trails from easy to strenuous. Plus several  multiple 18 hole golf courses, including local gem- Bahle Farms Golf Course. 

Water sport galore including kayaking, SUP, pontoon, jet ski, and even some sail boat rentals are plentiful. Charter fishing adventures are plentiful as well. Captains offer satisfying half- and full-day experiences.
