Nordic Pineapple Bed and Breakfast

St. Johns, Michigan

Breakfast in Bed with couple in the background
Yes, you can request room service at Nordic Pineapple B&B.

You will be amazed by the size and comfort of the seven guest suites at Nordic Pineapple Bed and Breakfast.  Each offers a private spa-like bathroom with jetted tub and separate shower. Each room is decorated in a comfortable, relaxing style that invites you to kick off your shoes, jump in bed and let your worries melt away.

Located in the small mid-Michigan town of St. Johns, Nordic Pineapple B&B offers lodging close to Lansing and close to East Lansing, both 30 minutes south. Nearby U.S. 127 offers a scenic route to or from Mount Pleasant, 45 minutes, and other points north and south.

The home that is now Nordic Pineapple B&B dates to 1861, when it was built by a Civil War general for the daughter of the city's founder. This gem is located blocks from the quaint small-town downtown shopping district where you can find little shops filled with special treasures, coffee, tea and the area’s premier organic chocolate store.

This grand home is first and foremost a family home. Innkeepers Greg and Kjersten (the “j” is silent) want you to come, relax and put your feet up.  We encourage you to leave your shoes at the door and find a quiet spot to cozy up with a good book, watch a great movie or just take a cat nap. When you walk through the door you become one of the family.

Poatato Hash with Sunny Side up Egg and biscuits
Five-potato hash with a sunny-side-up egg and biscuits is a popular entree at Nordic Pineapple B&B.

We offer a full-service breakfast in our large dining room. Weather-permitting, sit on the expansive porch and watch the day begin.

We hope you will come visit us for your next vacation, weekend getaway, family gathering, girls weekend, anniversary, wedding or just to get away from the hustle and bustle.

St. Johns is “Mint City USA” and hosts an annual Mint Festival each August.  Come see what small town America festivals are all about.  Sit back on our large porch and enjoy the parade that passes down Oakland Street or hit the local craft venue or find amazing food at one of the local food trucks.  There is also a rodeo and tractor pull. We also host an annual festival of lights each December complete with a visit from Santa Claus.

Unique experiences at Nordic Pineapple B&B

Historic Charm

In 1861 a Civil War general built his wife a traditional Victorian home just north of Lansing in what later became St. Johns. In 1911, the home underwent a massive renovation, turning it from a Victorian into a Colonial home complete with a third-floor ballroom. Imagine the parties that were thrown here in its prime; if only the walls could talk. Many children have been raised within these walls and many adventures have been had. In 1992 there was a fire which almost ended the story. Come stay with us and we will give you the whole story of what makes The Nordic Pineapple so unique and why the people of St. Johns feel such an attachment to this home.

Romance

Looking for a special getaway with that someone special in your life? The Nordic Pineapple is the perfect place to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with each other. Our rooms have amazing beds that are perfect for unwinding and our jetted tubs will relax your worries away. We are here to take care of your every need and we serve and amazing breakfast that you can enjoy in your room if you prefer.

Adventure

Do you love cider, wine, golf and/or great food?  We have all that within 30 minutes of The Nordic Pineapple.

Fred Meijer CIS Trail runs alongside a caboose in St. Johns.
Fred Meijer CIS Trail runs alongside vintage rail cars in St. Johns. The W sign told engineers to sound the horn when approaching an intersection.

We have premier golfing at The Emerald on Maple Creek, considered to be the “gem” of mid-Michigan golfing.  Picture yourself surrounded by stately maples and tall great oaks...a gently flowing brook and the sounds of wildlife surround you as you tee off the perfect drive.

Take the short drive into Lansing and visit Old Town or take in a Michigan State football game.  You can spend the day at Potter Park Zoo or visit the planetarium.  Head north 30 minutes and spend the evening testing your luck at Soaring Eagle Casino.

St. Johns is roughly the halfway point on Fred Meijer CIS Trail (Clinton-Ionia-Shiawassee), a 41.3-mile rail trail whose surface is asphalt and crushed limestone.  Make The Nordic Pineapple your stop along the trail. We’re only a few blocks south.  The rail runs alongside the home of the Clinton Northern Railway Museum, housed in a restored 1920 depot, it offers visitors the chance to explore old rail cars, view railroad artifacts, and, during open hours, to operate model trains.

There is something for everyone and when your day is done come enjoy a glass of wine on the porch or next to the fire.  We will be here to hear all about your adventures.
