Favorite French Toast Recipe

Every month we ask our #MichBnB innkeepers to submit their favorite recipes. It’s a fun contest that we share each month with our members and in our newsletters for all to enjoy. June is the Best #MichBnB French Toast Recipe. We had a hard time choosing a winner as our innkeepers have created some creative versions. As you’ll read below it’s pretty common for innkeepers to tweak family recipes or traditional versions by using the bounty from Michigan’s fruit basket. That’s what makes staying at a quality-assured Michigan Bed and Breakfast so special.
The team at Lexington House B&B, A Night to Remember had this to say about their recipe- “Here’s our take on French Toast. Joe has done a great job experimenting and creating his own French Toast Casserole Since we have the luxury of an ice cream store on the property, he adds a little Peach Keen Ice Cream. As you know we own an ice cream shop. Joe loves to put fruit into things and decided to make a peach-flavored French Toast. Then he got to thinking, that one of our flavors of ice cream is called Peachy Keen Ice Cream. So he added the Peachy Keen Ice Cream to the milk in the recipe!”
Recipe as follows:
4 Eggs
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of white sugar
1 tsp of vanilla
1 tsp of cinnamon
3/4 loaf of Russo’s Cinnamon Bread
3 scoops of Peachy Keen Ice Cream, melted
1/2 can of peaches
1/2 cup whole milk
(if you don’t have ice cream, use 1 1/2 cups whole milk, (total))
Blend cubes of bread, with liquid ingredients, if too dry add more milk. Best if it can be prepared the night before so all of the ingredients can soak into the bread.
Bake at 350 for 45 to 50 minutes
Enjoy!
