Winner will be drawn Oct. 31 from our newsletter subscriber list

It’s really that simple: If you’re on the confirmed list of subscribers to the MBBA 10-times-a-year newsletter as of noon, Oct. 31, your name will be in the random drawing to receive a $250 B&B gift certificate. (A couple exceptions to eligibility are noted below.)

The winner can use it for a stay at one of more than 80 Michigan B&Bs anytime before Oct. 31, 2019. Full contest rules are below.

Important: Subscribing is a two-part deal

To become a confirmed subscriber, first fill out the form — just email address and first name. Second, look in your inbox — including the Spam or All Mail folder — for an email from the Michigan B&B Association. Click the link in that email to confirm your subscription.

This rule stems from a law that protects us all from being deluged with mail we didn’t sign up for.

If you skip the second step, your subscription will get stuck in a folder called Awaiting Confirmation. Anyone in that folder isn’t eligible for this or future drawings for a $250 B&B gift certificate. You won’t get the newsletter either.

Check: Are you already a subscriber?

If you’ve seen in your inbox an email whose top looked like this (left), you’re already a subscriber to our monthly newsletter with information about Michigan travel info related to B&Bs. You don’t need to do another thing to be entered into the drawing.

What if you believe you subscribed but are not seeing the monthly emails? Check folders labeled Spam, Promotions or similar for mail from the Michigan Bed and Breakfast Association and [email protected].

Gmail users, check for our mail in a folder called “All Mail.”

What to do? Find the most recent email from us — Sept. 20 or Sept. 25, sent at 3:58 p.m. EDT — and mark it Not Spam or simply add us to your contact list.

You can unsubscribe anytime if our news and info aren’t useful to you, but these steps will at least allow you to give us a try.

Contest rules

1. The prize is one $250 gift certificate that may be used toward a stay at any Michigan B&B listed on this website at the time of the winner’s stay. The gift certificate expires Oct. 31, 2019. If the winner cannot use the gift certificate, he or she can transfer it to someone else. It has no cash value except to the MBBA member innkeeper who redeems it.
2. The random drawing will be held at noon, Oct. 31. The winner will be announced on this page and on Facebook and Twitter as soon as we have contacted the winner, verified his or her eligibility, and obtained the person’s permission to announce his or her name and hometown.
3. If the winner cannot be contacted and verified within 24 hours or does not give permission for the announcement, another winner will be chosen randomly.
4. Who is eligible to win? Anyone over age 21 on our list of confirmed subscribers to our Michigan B&B News as of noon, Oct. 31, EXCEPT: persons currently or formerly engaged in any aspect of the lodging business and their spouses, partners, parents, children or in-laws; anyone who has or has had a business or collaborative relationship with MBBA.
5. Persons discovered to have submitted multiple email addresses to increase their chance of winning will be disqualified.
6. Odds of winning: 1 in less than 2,000.
