Learn something new during a stay at a Centennial farmhouse and B&B while on vacation in the Upper Peninsula.
Innkeeper Renee Richer, whose farm-to-table breakfasts get 5-star reviews, offers several on-site workshops, including one on How To Raise Chickens.
For most culinary uses, fresh eggs are best, and they don’t come any fresher than when you get them from your own chicken coop. Even if your community allows it — as many do — raising chickens isn’t for everybody. This will be a fun way to learn the basics.
Other workshops offered at The Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast, located near Gladstone and Escanaba, include:
- Bread Making Sunday. In this 5.5-hour hands-on workshop, a local artisanal baker will teach you how to make four different kinds of bread.
- Berry Jam Making. If you time it right, strawberries will come from the farm’s own garden.
- Hummus and Tabouleh Workshop. Innkeeper Renee is a scientist whose research takes her to the Middle East, where she learned to love these two tasty dishes.
- Wild Flower Identification. After this guided 90-minute walk through meadows and woodlands, you’ll know a lot more about the plants blooming around you.
Workshops vary in length, but all are for small groups, so it is recommended that you book your workshop(s) when you reserve your room.. Some sessions include lunch or tea and items you can take with you and consume. Click button to view a page of details.Farmhouse B&B | Gladstone | UP
