A Knitting Weekend in Ludington

Nautical Yarn and the Ludington B&B Association host 3rd Annual Knitter’s Weekend

Join us November 6, 7 and 8 in Ludington, Michigan, for a relaxing weekend that combines knitting, great food, cozy accommodations and a fun time with friends!

You and the other guests will learn to knit something simple yet stylish designed by Carole Kosanovich, owner of Nautical Yarn. (As this event was rescheduled from spring because of the pandemic, the project may change to something more appropriate for winter than the one shown here. We’ll post new pictures and description as we are informed.)

Sweater two ways, horizontal pattern and vertical

On Friday night, Nautical Yarn will host a brief fitting class with a light dinner. The Lakeshore Lace Tee is a three-season tee that can be worn over long-sleeve T-shirts on cool days and over a bathing suit on hot, summer days. It doesn’t require a lot of fitting, but we will cover the basics of garment fitting. You will also knit and block a swatch to be measured Saturday morning to help you with your unique Lakeshore Lace Tee.

Saturday morning, we will begin to cover the skills required for the Lakeshore Lace Tee including Garter Stitch, 4 to 5 simple lace stitches, Double Moss Stitch, Edging lace and more. You will begin to think about your design. Do you want your tee to feature symmetry? Do you want horizontal stripes or do you prefer vertical stripes. Your Tee will be a personalized piece of wearable art, select your yarn and stitch patterns and away you go.

Skills needed: Everyone should know how to cast on, knit, and purl. Additional skills required include yo, k2tog and/or p2tog (we can teach these during class).

After lunch on Saturday, we will cover a couple more lace skills you may choose to include in your design. Following Saturday evening dinner (on your own), a knitting party will be held at one of the bed & breakfast inns in Ludington. Everyone is invited to knit with friends and enjoy refreshments.

Sunday morning, we will learn how to assemble and block the finished garment.

All classes will take place at Nautical Yarn located at 108 S Rath Avenue in downtown Ludington.

The Lakeshore Lace Tee takes approximately 600-700 yds of DK/worsted weight yarn (a kit is available for about $40). Also, size 6 needles are required, but we suggest you bring sizes 5 through 7 circular needles in 32″to 40″ length.

The cost to participate in this class is $150 (included in the B&B package), plus a 2-night stay reserved at one of the following locations:

Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast

The Ludington House Bed & Breakfast

• The Lamplighter Bed & Breakfast of Ludington

Shining Light Inn

The Weekend includes:
