Michigan B&Bs Invite You to Celebrate Michigan Wines

April may be Michigan wine month, but with all the celebrations next month you’d think it was in May. The romance of the grape and of bed & breakfast inns go hand in hand, and our innkeepers invite you to celebrate with them.

Book your lodging now to enjoy Spring Sip & Savor, the kick-off wine tasting and pairing event of the season along the Leelanau Wine Trail in the Leelanau Peninsula, May 5 and 6. Indulge your senses and learn more about the region’s wines at up to eight of the participating wineries on Saturday from 11 to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets are just $35 and include wine and food pairings at each winery, a commemorative glass and a $5 gift certificate redeemable at any of the wineries.

To ensure lodging availability, book your stay today at a nearby B&B and fashion your own memorable weekend get-away.  These quality-inspected inns, each distinct from the other, are located within a 30-mile radius of the village of Leland on the Leelanau Peninsula.

Enjoy Blossom Days, a celebration of beauty and bounty at the wineries of the Old Mission Peninsula, all afternoon long on May 19 and 20. This special sampling of unreleased wines includes Barrel and Reserve wines as well as each winery’s standard tasting list. The $30 ticket price includes a souvenir glass and tastings at all seven Old Mission wineries along the peninsula’s wine trail.  Call 231-223-4110 for more information.

Unique bed and breakfast inns abound on Old Mission and in the surrounding Traverse City area. Take a look, choose your favorite from among many unique styles and reserve your room before every inn is booked.

If you think our wine culture is limited to Michigan’s “up north,” think again. “Toast the coast” at the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Festival in southwesterm Michigan’s wine country, June 16. This is a unique “pairing” event — the pairing of Lake Michigan’s sugar-sand beaches with the area’s award-winning wineries. Enjoy the day on Weko Beach in Bridgman. Sample all the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail locally-grown-and-produced varietals by taste or by the glass. Add in cuisine from local restaurants, blues, pop/rock, R&B and a Pure Michigan sunset, and you have a festival for both wine aficionados and the entire family. For ticket prices and information, call  269-925-6301.

Make it more than a day at the beach. Book now to secure overnight lodging at your Lake to Lake-member bed and breakfast inn of choice. Click here to select a nearby B&B.
