Cooking breakfast for guests is one of our favorite things about owning Oak Creek Lodge. Our meals are always fresh and home-cooked. We aim to make every meal as natural as possible with all the flavor that comes with a homemade meal. We support local foods and aim to create a reputation of farm-to-table cooking.

In one of our five-star reviews, a guest wrote: "During our stay, breakfast ranged from their delicious banana nut pancakes to frittatas with a side of breakfast meat. Jeff and Tracie ask about any preferences or allergies when they confirm your reservation. There is something for even the pickiest of eaters. I should know; I am one of them."

Head out on the paved, 11-mile Saginaw Valley Rail Trail from nearby St. Charles, a 30-minute drive from here. Fifteen minutes south in Ovid, you could hop on the 41.4-mile Fred Meijer Clinton-Ionia-Shiawassee Trail. Golfers, tee off at The Emerald Golf Course less than 20 minutes west or at North Star, a public golf course that’s even closer. About 12 miles away, you could put your kayaks in the Shiawassee River.

If you’re seeking a mid-Michigan romantic getaway or a place to stay after your wedding, consider Oak Creek Lodge. Several of our rooms could be perfect, but our Honeymoon Suite provides an unmatched experience. Separated from the rest of the rooms, its private entrance is accessed by a set of outdoor stairs. Once inside, the private loft offers amenities such as a two-person jetted tub, with candles and lavender bath scents, as well as double doors that separate the bed and bathroom area from a large living space that includes a fridge, a Keurig, a couch, television, and table and chairs.

The Honeymoon Suite offers the beautiful space and comfort that newlyweds wish for after a long night of dancing.

Another great option for romantic couples is the Oak Creek Suite. Located inside the lodge but with a private entrance, this suite offers a two-person jet tub in a connected private bathroom, walk-in closet, television, see-through fireplace, mini-fridge and microwave, and more.

Family Fun

With play areas both inside and outside for children and a game room downstairs for teens, Oak Creek Lodge is a great place for families with children. The Bunk Room is often recommended to families with children, as it holds three twin beds. For babies and toddlers, arrange with the innkeepers to have toddler beds or pack-n-plays ready in your room on arrival (small fee).

Our spacious living room, with comfortable couches, tables and chairs, large television, and toys for younger children is designed to provide a relaxing environment for families. The adjacent dining room offers a family meal around the table. The inground pool and the furniture on the shaded deck and overlooking the property and its gardens tend to be favorite spots for families as well.

Natural Wonders

Seated on 10 scenic acres, the lodge overlooks the woods, a garden and its flowers, and groomed lawns. Consider the deck the perfect area to observe the natural beauty surrounding the lodge. Some of our rooms also come with access to a balcony.

Oak Creek Lodge accepts guests of every shape and size, including your dogs. The Hangar is the pet-friendly room at the lodge, allowing up to two dogs for a fee.

You’ll be glad you visited when all the trees on our property and along nearby roads are dressed in their fall colors. Many locations near the lodge offer fall activities, including Uncle John's Cider Mill in St. Johns, a favorite place for families, singles, and couples. The fun only begins with their famous fresh doughnuts and apple cider. Take a walk through the orchard, explore a corn maze, and enjoy arts and crafts and other vendors' shows, live music, hayrides and pumpkin patches. Phillip’s Orchard and Market is also located closeby. A quick web search will reveal dozens upon dozens of options for fall activities in the area, including haunted houses, pumpkin picking and hayrides.

Winter Fun

Early winter is a scenic and exceptionally festive time in our area. Enjoy small-town holiday sights, music, and events in November and December. Only an hour’s drive away, explore the charms of Frankenmuth and Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, an immense shopping experience, popular year-round. When the snow falls, you’ll find opportunities for snowboarding, sledding, etc. After a day outdoors, our cozy fireplaces in the living room and in some of the rooms create the perfect atmosphere to curl up with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa.
