Union Pier is on Southwest Michigan’s Shore Wine Trail. The town itself is extremely small, but the surrounding countryside is dotted with quaint antique shops and art galleries. Close to the Indiana border and Lake Michigan, Union Pier has long been a favorite travel destination for folks all over the Midwest. Union Pier grew up across Lake Michigan from Chicago, and early residents understood that the great Midwestern city needed lumber and a lot of it. Antiques are everywhere in Harbor Country. Follow the Red Arrow Ride route through all the little towns near our bed and breakfasts, stop in every antique shop seen, and take home at least one unexpected treasure.

The Lake Michigan shoreline near Union Pier is largely undeveloped. Unspoiled sandy beaches stretch from Warren Dunes State Park north of Lakeside to the public beach in New Buffalo. Union Pier bed and breakfast innkeepers will be able to direct guests to the best and closest beach access. Bring plenty of food and beverages, because you won’t want to leave.
