Kalamazoo boasts several breweries and brewpubs, and there are two Michigan wineries in Kalamazoo. Exploring the many wineries on the nearby Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail is a lovely excuse for a weekend getaway at a bed and breakfast.
Once outside of town, take some time to play in the great outdoors. Cycle, horseback ride, walk or ski part of the Kal-Haven Trail, which meanders more than 30 miles through woods, wetlands, prairies and small towns. Golf at one of the several excellent golf courses in and around Kalamazoo – the Milham Park Golf Course is considered to be one of the best in the country. Canoe or kayak a stretch of the Kalamazoo River, which runs through town, or head out to Morrow Lake for fishing or swimming.
