Grandville

Grandville sits less than ten miles southwest of Grand Rapids, on the Grand River. Grandville’s bed and breakfasts are near big city amenities, culture, and restaurants, yet outdoor recreation is close at hand.

Rivertown Shopping Mall is in Grandville. Arrange a girlfriends getaway at a bed and breakfast and shop until you drop at one of the largest malls in the state. Then relax back at the inn, stay up late laughing, and feast on a homemade breakfast in the morning.

Be sure to take advantage of the many cultural offerings of Grandville and Grand Rapids while staying at a Grandville bed and breakfast: spend an evening at the Grand Rapids Symphony, Grand Rapids Ballet Company, or the Wealthy Theatre – a pretty historic building that features movies, concerts, and lectures. Tour the Meyer May House (a Frank Lloyd Wright design) or the Voight House Victorian Museum. Or plan an afternoon at the Heritage Hill Historic District, browsing art galleries and shops.

The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum is located in Grand Rapids. President Ford was raised in Grand Rapids; his museum provides interesting insight into the man and his presidency.

Outside of town, cycle down country roads through scenic farmland. Golfers will enjoy playing Wallinwood Springs Golf Club, The Meadows Golf Course, or the Maple Hill Golf Course, among others. Rent a canoe or kayak and float down the Grand River, with a picnic in hand. Explore Millennium Park on the northern banks of the Grand River – an ambitious project that will ultimately connect Grandville, Grand Rapids, Walker, and Wyoming.

It’s an easy hour drive north to the Manistee National Forest. Numerous trails traverse the forest, offering many opportunities for hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling. The North Country Trail, which stretches from North Dakota to New York, passes through the Manistee National Forest. Ask the bed and breakfast innkeepers if they know the best spot to access the North Country Trail, then head to the wilderness.
