Grand Haven

Grand Haven, Michigan, part of the Holland-Grand Haven metro area, is located in Ottawa County. The city is at the point where the Grand River empties into Lake Michigan. All of Grand Haven is a special place to be, but we’re going to tell you about the most enchanting spot of all…the World’s Largest Musical Fountain. This popular work of art was designed and patented by William M. Booth, II. In 1997, the World’s Largest Musical Fountain turned 35 years old. Some of the original volunteers who helped build the fountain were on hand to create 30 new programs for the Fountain, in order to celebrate this special anniversary. There are up to 3,000 changes in light and water movement in each 20-minute program. Each minute of the program involves one hour of programming the software for the display. What an attraction! There’s also more to see in the neighboring towns of Fruitport and Spring Lake. But, before the fountain, before the many parks and fishing charters, before the railways and the museums, the city of Grand Haven was established in 1839, and soon became a port for passenger and commercial vessels alike.
