The peaceful town of Fenwick is an hour northeast of Grand Rapids and an hour northwest of Lansing. Nestled among state parks and state game areas in the Southwest region of the state, Fenwick is well situated for outdoor recreation year round.
Retreat to a Fenwick bed and breakfast for peace and quiet. Sit on the porch after a day riding horses, hiking or biking, and listen to the wind rustle the trees. Curl up in front of the fire after a day of cross-country skiing or snowshoeing and let the warmth sink into chilled toes and noses.
The Ionia State Recreation Area boasts miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing. Bring a boat and head out on Sessions Lake with a fishing pole in hand, float down the Grand River in a canoe, or paddle up it in a kayak. Bring binoculars and scan the wetlands for waterfowl. White Pine Park and Flat River Park offer numerous lakes on which to fish, swim and boat. Ask our bed and breakfast innkeepers about their favorite spots to get out into nature.
Our bed and breakfasts are surrounded by fertile farmland and charming small towns. Bring a basket and head out to u -pick farms for berries and tree fruits. Enjoy cider pressings in the fall and hunting for the perfect Christmas tree in the winter. Poke around farmers markets in the summer.
Stop by nearby Greenville in August for the Danish Festival and be sure to check out the Ionia Free Fair, which boasts free music nightly. Nearby Alma is known as “Scotland U.S.A.” and features a fantastic Highland Festival in May.
