East Tawas

East Tawas is a small but vibrant city on the mouth of Saginaw Bay, in Northeast Michigan. The downtown has cheerful shops and delicious restaurants, ready to serve folks who work up an appetite in the fresh air. Rise to meet the sunrise in an East Tawas bed and breakfast on the Sunrise Coast, for there is much to do in a day here.

With Lake Huron to the east, Saginaw Bay to the south and Huron National Forest to the northwest, opportunities for outdoor recreation are abundant. From an East Tawas bed and breakfast, it is easy to get out on the water, spend a day on a golf course, and go deep into the woods.

There are several golf courses close to our bed and breakfasts. Early risers will learn it is even possible to golf more than one course in a day, especially during the long days of summer. Enjoy views of Lake Huron and Saginaw Bay while golfing, and in the fall, golf on courses lined with vibrantly colored trees.

The warm waters of Saginaw Bay are ideal for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, kite sailing, and sailing. Charter a sailboat and try on sea legs for a day. Or ask our bed and breakfast innkeepers to recommend a local Charter Fishing company. Anglers will be delighted by the wide variety of fish found in Lake Huron, Saginaw Bay, and Tawas Lake. The nearby AuSable River is a beautiful spot for fly-fishing and is full of brown and rainbow trout.

It is wonderful to stay in our bed and breakfasts once the snow starts to fall. Cozy up in front of the fire after a day of romping in the snow. One of the largest groomed trail networks in Michigan – the Corsair Ski Trails – is close to East Tawas in the Huron National Forest. Spend days or weeks exploring the 56 kilometers of interconnecting trails, through open meadows and dense forests, up hills and down into valleys. Be sure to fill up on a delicious and nutritious breakfast at a bed and breakfasts before strapping on those skis!
