Unique experiences at Dove Nest Bed and Breakfast

Dove Nest provides a great home base for people who wish to “collect” lighthouse experiences along this stretch of Lake Michigan. Just 10 minutes from us, visit the St. Joseph North Pier Inner and Outer Lights, which stand at the entrance to the St. Joseph River from Lake Michigan. The history of lighthouses in St. Joseph dates to 1832. The remaining, still-operational light station is one of the few in the USA comprised of two lighthouses. A complete restoration ending in the spring of 2016 resulted in a 2016 Governor’s Award for Historic Preservation. The piers at St. Joseph and Grand Haven are the only ones on the Great Lakes that retain their catwalks and range lights. Arrange for a boat tour around the light station, during which knowledgeable guides will share the interesting history of the lighthouse, break wall and harbor.
