LogHaven B&B and Barn will board your horse
Every inn will have a slightly different policy, so it’s smart to ask before making a reservation, but it is entirely possible to find a very nice pet-friendly bed and breakfast in Michigan.
Most often, “pet-friendly” amounts to “dog-friendly” when it comes to bed and breakfasts that will accommodate you and your four-legged friend. Start with B&Bs shown below.
A few rural Michigan B&Bs — in West Branch, for example — will accommodate your horses, by pre-arrangement.
Service dogs are welcome, of course. A service dog is not considered a pet, per the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and will be welcomed, along with their owner, at any Michigan bed and breakfast.
It will be considerate for someone with a service dog to contact the innkeeper directly to make the reservation, so your needs can be matched with the most appropriate guest room. The innkeeper may ask you a couple questions that he or she is legally entitled to ask.
Some owners regard their four-legged friend as a therapy or comfort animal, but that does not make it a service animal per the ADA. If you’re someone who has obtained online certification, a collar or a vest to identify your dog as an emotional support dog, it is recommended that you first ascertain that the B&B where you wish to stay will accept your pet.
Michigan is one of the states in which misrepresenting a pet as a service animal is punishable as a misdemeanor.
