Great—just check in to one of Burt Lake’s historical bed and breakfast inns, and prepare to experience the history of the area, just as if you were there since the beginning. It’s no wonder that the Indians had first made their home in this part of Michigan, before the white man came to settle here. The Indians knew to make their homes where hunting and farming and fishing were all successful, in order to feed their families. This area near Burt Lake State Park is the perfect spot for a peaceful getaway of bird watching, deer watching, and—believe it or not, sometimes the elk come out to say hello. Maybe today will be the day!
