Carleton
This village in the Monroe metro area received its name in honor of Will Carleton, the poet. Located in Monroe County, Michigan, Carleton was built as a station on the Toledo, Ann Arbor, and Northern Michigan Railroad. What a rich history as a known destination! Enjoy a quiet afternoon strolling through the Martha Baker Country Store Museum, or the Belleville Farmer’s Market. If you’re looking for more adrenaline pumping action, the Flat Rock Speedway is calling your name, or you could hop in a canoe from the River Raisin Canoe Livery. If you brought your clubs, why not head out to the Thorne Hills Holf Course or the Carleton Glen Golf Club. The kids will have fun while learning at the Fermi 2 Nuclear Power Station Visitor Center. Fiorelli’s Restaurant, the Dixie Café, and Great Lakes Gourmet are all polishing the silverware and preparing to serve you a lovely dinner. All that’s left to make your weekend getaway or extended Michigan vacation complete would be quiet, comfortable, polite accommodations. You’ll find just that kind of lodging at one of the area’s bed and breakfast inns. Choose one today and make your reservations!
