| Formerly known as Ore Creek, the city of Brighton, Michigan is located in Livingston County, just outside of Detroit. Brighton was later named for Brighton, New York. The city was developed around a gristmill. Brighton is home to Ross Technical Institute and the Gallery 4, for those artistically inclined. Summer and winter fun alike are provided by the Meijer Skate Park, the Mount Brighton Ski Area, or the Brighton Riding Stables. This is just a small sampling of the many parks, farms, and golf courses all over the area. The Island Lake Recreation Area and the Huron Meadows Metropark are more examples. Lodging at a bed and breakfast would be a sweet experience here in Brighton. With downtown being located right on the mill pond, a good book on the front porch is bound to be cool and quiet. Personal attention from the innkeeper will ensure you are comfortable and well-rested. Ready to think about food? Enjoy a scrumptious lunch or dinner at JB’s Brighton House, the Brighton Bar and Grill, or the Greecian Island Restaurant. Follow that with a sweet latte from Beaner’s Gourmet Coffee, before heading out to the Milford Farmers Market or the Howell Sunday Farmers’ Market to collect some fresh produce to take home to your friends! |
