Constantine

Five miles north of Indiana you’ll find St. Joseph County, home to Constantine, Michigan. This charming village is located between Chicago and Detroit, providing a picturesque moment of peace when traveling from one urban center to another. Running through the center of the village of Constantine is the St. Joseph River. There is a dam along this river, which welcomes waters from Klinger Lake, by way of the Fawn River. The St. Joseph River also provides for the generation of electricity, at the American Electric Power Company. There are fishing sites as well as a boat launch, provided by the electric company for the pleasure of the residents. Let’s stroll back into town, which was founded in 1828. The Michigan State registry lists several historic homes from Constantine, and visitors are sure to enjoy viewing the historic downtown district. Shuffleboard, playgrounds, picnic shelters, horseshoe facilities, and a skate park/roller hockey park are all coming to Constantine during Phase II of the new construction at Riverview Park. There is a Civil War Memorial at the Washington Street Park, and visitors will find softball fields at Wellfield park. Constantine is certainly a peaceful destination for the family getaway.
